Over the years, we have had people stop into the shop looking for something they could share with a group — weddings, bridal showers, rodeo weekends, company gatherings, downtown events, and celebrations that needed something personal without feeling overdone.
That idea slowly turned into The Hat Bar.
The Hat Bar by Weather Hat Co. is a mobile hat bar experience built for gatherings across the Black Hills region. Guests choose from ready-to-wear wool felt and straw hats, then personalize them on-site with bands, ribbons, feathers, conchos, pins, and other finishing touches.
It is hands-on, social, and built to feel approachable.
Not a costume. Not a novelty. And not the full Weather Hat Co. custom hat process.
Just a well-made hat, styled in person and made your own.
Rooted in Western Heritage
Weather Hat Co. has always been built around craftsmanship, fit, and purpose.
The Hat Bar carries that same western foundation into a different kind of experience.
The hats used for The Hat Bar are ready-to-wear styles available in selected crown shapes, colors, and general sizing. Guests can make smaller adjustments and styling choices while building something that feels personal to them.
Some people keep it simple. Some go bold. Some build something classic enough to wear for years.
That is part of the fun.
The goal is not to recreate a custom hat fitting. The goal is to create an experience people remember.
Built for Weddings, Parties, Rodeos, and Gatherings
While every event is different, weddings and bridal gatherings are already becoming one of the most popular fits for The Hat Bar.
There is a reason for that.

Guests begin by selecting a ready-to-wear hat in their preferred style, color, and size.
From there, they can personalize it with available materials and details like:

Light shaping may also be available depending on the hat style.
Most hats take roughly five to ten minutes once selections are made, which keeps the experience moving while still feeling personal.

Hosted by Jenny
The Hat Bar is hosted by Jenny, co-owner of Weather Hat Co.
Over the years, Jenny has worked alongside Jack in the shop handling hat bands, finishing work, shaping details, customer support, and day-to-day operations.
The Hat Bar grew naturally from that side of the business.
It brings Weather Hat Co. into a more social setting while still keeping the grounded, approachable feel the shop is known for.
Depending on the size of the event, additional help may be brought in to keep things moving smoothly.
Serving the Black Hills Region
The Hat Bar is based in Belle Fourche and serves events throughout the Black Hills region and surrounding areas.
Travel outside the standard service area may also be available depending on the event.
Whether the setup is part of a wedding weekend in Deadwood, a summer gathering in Spearfish, a rodeo event in Belle Fourche, or a private event in Rapid City, the goal stays the same:
