This is a lighter, more social side of Weather Hat Co.—built around ready-to-wear hats, live styling, and a good conversation.

The Hat Bar is not a booth full of throwaway party favors. It is a mobile event experience from Weather Hat Co., built around real hats, thoughtful details, and the kind of western style that fits naturally in the Black Hills.

Guests choose from a curated selection of pre-shaped, ready-to-wear hats, then personalize them with bands, feathers, ribbons, conchos, pins, and other finishing touches. A brim can be lightly shaped. A hat can be made to feel like theirs.

It is quick, hands-on, and memorable—without pretending to be the full custom hatmaking process.

How The Hat Bar Works

1. Choose a hat

Guests start with a pre-shaped, ready-to-wear hat in general sizing: S, M, L, or XL. Options may include wool felt hats, straw hats, and seasonal selections depending on the event.

2. Pick the details

Bands, leather strips, ribbons, feathers, conchos, pins, bows, and other finishing touches are laid out for guests to choose from.

3. Make it yours

Jenny and the Hat Bar team help assemble and finish each hat. Details may be sewn, tacked, or attached depending on the materials selected.

4. Add light shaping

Some hats may receive light brim shaping, such as pulling a brim up or down. This is not the full custom shaping process, but it adds a personal touch.

5. Wear it home

Most hats take about 5–10 minutes once selections are made, making the experience easy to enjoy during a live event.

Each Hat Bar booking includes an event fee based on travel distance and event needs. Bookings also include a minimum hat purchase expectation, which helps make sure the event is properly stocked and staffed.

In most cases, guests purchase their own hats individually during the event. If guest purchases fall below the event minimum, the host is responsible for the remaining balance based on the most affordable hat option available at that event.

The Hat Bar is hosted by Jenny, co-owner of Weather Hat Co. in Belle Fourche.

Jenny has worked alongside Jack in the shop for years, helping with hat bands, finishing details, light shaping, and the day-to-day work that keeps a real hat shop moving. With The Hat Bar, she brings that same eye for detail into a more social setting.

It is still Weather Hat Co.—just a little lighter, a little more mobile, and built for the kind of gathering where a good hat belongs.

The Hat Bar is based in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and travels throughout the Black Hills region for weddings, private parties, venue events, rodeo weekends, community gatherings, and corporate events.

Most bookings fall within our standard Black Hills service area, though custom travel quotes may be available for events beyond that range.

Whether the setup is downtown, at a venue in the hills, out on a ranch property, or part of a larger western event weekend, we will walk through the details together and see what makes sense for the gathering.
